The Ripple Effect

Yesterday was one of the hardest days of my professional career. As you may have seen in the news a key member of Team TDOC was taken from us suddenly. During the touching and heartfelt funeral services, many people shared their memories of Debra Johnson. Everyone spoke of her light and the effect she had on everyone she touched. Her professionalism and spirit caused a ripple effect that continues to transcend the Department of Correction.

That is what we should all aspire to do… to leave a ripple of positivity in our wake. Be it a kind word, new policies, or improved practices we should all leave places better than we found them. If you aren’t an agent of positive change then what are you doing? Organizations don’t need someone to keep the status quo. Companies are looking for leaders like Ms. Johnson who can lead with a positive spirit and invoke long lasting change in the right direction.

Yesterday, everyone paid tribute to an amazing leader. From the former inmates, to her staff, to her peers and supervisors - Debra Johnson left us better for knowing her. Her loving ripple effect is a wave we will continue to ride for years to come. Thank you, Debra!
